Statement from U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon on Tornado Damage In Tennessee

“I contacted the White House today to let President Bush know Governor Bredesen will be requesting federal disaster assistance. I have been assured of a quick response to that request.

“My office has been in contact with TEMA and FEMA, and I spoke with local officials this morning to let them know I stand ready to help the residents of Macon, Sumner and Trousdale counties rebuild their lives and restore their communities.

“Right now, my thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of those who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured and those who have lost their homes and property.”
