Energy
Bart and Cliff Ricketts of MTSU discuss Rickett’s work with hybrid electric vehicles prior to a congressional hearing on emerging energy technologies.

For America to enjoy continued security and prosperity, our country must have a more balanced energy policy that will promote conservation and maximize our domestic energy resources, including clean and renewable sources of energy.

As the Chairman of the Science and Technology Committee and a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, I am dedicated to diversifying and expanding our domestic energy resources.

Here are a few of the things I have done:

Bart looks under the hood of a hybrid vehicle at an event in Washington, D.C.• Voted for the Clean Energy Act to repeal $14 billion in subsidies to Big Oil companies and invest it in clean, renewable energy and energy efficiency;

• Introduced the Advanced Fuels Infrastructure Research and Development Act to increase consumer access to alternative fuels;

• Authored a law to create an agency within the Department of Energy to decrease U.S. dependence on oil through clean energy technologies;

• Introduced legislation to make the federal government a leader in energy efficiency;

• Voted for legislation to give the Federal Trade Commission strong authority to stop price gouging.
